Work4Women Project

Work4Women provides tools, strategies and a virtual community to help increase women and girls' integration and retention in high-wage jobs that are considered nontraditional for women. Nontraditional occupations (NTOs) are jobs in which women comprise 25% or less of the workforce (U.S. Department of Labor).

Related Projects—Workplace Solutions and Job Connections 2000

WOW has several other projects that compliment Work4Women.

  • Workplace Solutions is a national online network that provides strategies and resources to help employers, unions and apprenticeship programs recruit, orient, train, place and retain women in high-wage occupations that are nontraditional and to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

  • Job Connections 2000 is a regional initiative that provides free technical assistance to build the capacity of Metropolitan Washington area employers, unions and apprenticeship programs to recruit, retain, support and advance low-income, hard-to-employ women in information technology and telecommunications jobs. To this end, Job Connections 2000 will also work with employment training providers to train women in the basic computer and life/foundation skills which are essential to increasing the placement and retention of low-income and hard-to-employ women.

  • El Paso Women in Nontraditional Occupations Program provides technical assistance to ten employers and labor unions in the construction industry to increase the access and retention of displaced women workers and other low-income women in El Paso County in high-wage NTOs. The project is supported by Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau.
